The research group is based on the cooperation of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Clinics of the University of Pécs and the Diagnostic Centre of Pécs. This is a multidisciplinary group, consisting of researchers from different disciplines (neurologist, neurosurgeon, physicists, biologist, computer scientist, psychologist and radiologist). Our research group is unique in that, although it conducts basic research, its results can in many cases be translated into daily clinical practice, which is possible because it conducts research on issues raised by the clinical community itself.

Our program is on the one hand, the study of the higher-order mental function of the human brain – which cannot be studied in animal models – and on the other hand, the non-invasive, in vivo basic research of certain common diseases of the central nervous system.
In line with this concept, we are conducting research in the following topics: behavioral addictions (mainly Internet addiction); neurological and psychological consequences of post-COVID syndrome following mild COVID-19 infection; Parkinson’s disease; traumatic brain injuries; the relationship between childhood/adult obesity and brain microstructure; long-term effects of early life events along with brain functional and microstructural changes in stress and depression.
