Scientific processes are faster and research can be more efficient thanks to the latest initiative of the HUN-REN Center. Members of the research network will be able to use unique AI services from October, and dedicated AI specialists will help them choose and use the appropriate artificial intelligence-based options.
The goal of the initiative launched this year is to provide the researchers of the Hungarian Research Network with a wide range of AI services, so that their research becomes more efficient, research processes become even faster than before, or they can even target completely new research topics.
The AI service portfolio of the HUN-REN Center, the AI4Science program, builds on research needs assessed and then formulated in the research network. It is available to all scientific staff and contributes to the presentation of even more world-class results in their research. With the program, HUN-REN encourages them to integrate the possibilities of the AI toolbox into their research and to use the support provided by artificial intelligence in all fields of science.
“Our competitiveness in the world also depends on us introducing and using the latest scientific and research technologies and ideas, even researching them and disseminating them widely,” emphasized Balázs Gulyás, president of the HUN-REN Center, at the professional event at which he started the AI4Science program.
“Our goal is for our researchers to spend as little time as possible on administrative tasks and spend more time on research activities, for which we provide AI-supported technologies and platforms. In addition to the appropriate AI infrastructure, we also continuously collect best practices from all over the world, be it training or educational programs,” emphasized Jakab Roland, CEO of HUN-REN.
The main pillar of the AI4S program is the all-institution AI ambassador network, which is a community of 25 people in total. They will hold AI workshops and trainings, but also help to recognize and exploit the benefits of artificial intelligence. In addition, researchers can request professional help from them or through them from a central team of experts both for the validation of their research ideas and for infrastructure support.
What other AI supports does the HUN-REN Center provide?
AI education and inspiration: Researchers can participate in basic and specialized training.
Personal AI support: To find unique AI solutions, the HUN-REN Center’s AI expert team, an external expert team, and an AI research partner search service are available to researchers.
Available AI technologies: In order to protect sensitive research data, researchers can use HUN-REN’s own AI framework and high-performance computing infrastructure.
The implementation of AI4S and the work of AI ambassadors are strengthened by three AI experts (Gergely Szabó, AI research idea validation and research design, Dániel Szittya, AI application, Gergely Kóczán, AI infrastructure). If additional help is needed, an external team of experts, Neuron Solutions, is at the disposal of HUN-REN researchers or ambassadors for special questions related to the field of AI.
