László Barabási Receives the 2026 Euler Award at NetSci’s 20th Anniversary Conference

Jun 8, 2026

COMPASS is pleased to congratulate László Barabási on receiving the 2026 Euler Award, the highest recognition presented by the Network Science Society.

Awarded annually, the Euler Award honors a network scientist whose research has fundamentally advanced the field through outstanding and paradigm-changing discoveries. In addition to a personalized plaque and invited lecture at the Society’s flagship conference, the award recognizes contributions that have shaped the direction of network science and expanded its impact across disciplines.

The award was presented during NetSci 2026, which marked the 20th anniversary of the Network Science conference series. Hosted by Northeastern University’s Network Science Institute in Boston from June 1–5, the conference brought together researchers, educators, and practitioners from around the world to explore the role of networks in understanding complex systems.

Over the past two decades, NetSci has become the premier gathering for the global network science community, showcasing research spanning social and information networks, public health and epidemics, ecological systems, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and many other interconnected domains.

László’s groundbreaking work has helped define the field of network science and inspired generations of researchers to better understand the hidden structures that shape our world. His recognition with the Euler Award is both a celebration of individual achievement and a reflection of the continued growth and impact of the network science community.

Congratulations to László Barabási on this remarkable and well-deserved honor.
